Securing nine championship titles, the Cagayan State University (CSU) Lal-lo Innovator, the official student publication of CSU Lal-lo, claimed the second best performing publication in the group category at the 21st Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) held at the ICON Isabela Convention Center in Cauayan City, Isabela, on February 11-13, 2025.
The Innovator’s Tabloid is Region 2’s best
After 14 years since its last publication in 2011, The Innovator's Tabloid paper, now registered as The Valena Bulletin, comes back in a dominating force, backbreaking in the usual tabloid paper competition in Region 2's press conference, as it reigned supreme over entries of higher education institutions in the entire region.
With formidable presence, the Valena Bulletin emerged victorious in Editorial Page, Development Communication Page, Features Page, Literary Page, while claiming third place in News and Sports pages.
History of the publication reveals that the student publication has not been producing tabloid issues considering budget and resource constraints.
"We tried to produce two technical papers this year aside from our usual Newsletter issue," Ivan Howard Sumauang, the publication's chief editor shared.
Aside from the historic win of the tabloid paper, The Innovator's newsletter maintained its place at third overall, consistently claiming the ranking since 2019.
Newsletter is third best in Region 2
The newsletter was adjudged with the Best News Page, and Best Feature Page, while claiming second in Literary Page, third in Opinion Page, fourth in Page Design, sixth in Development Communication Page and seventh in Sports Page.
The Valena Mug, on the other hand, secured fourth overall in magazine competition while Taludturan Dos, the official literary folio of the publication emerged sixth in the entire conference.
