Cagayan State University (CSU) Lal-lo continues to expand its global academic reach as Vea Valery Viernes, an incoming second-year student from the College of Agriculture, has been selected to participate in the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) Program at Olds College in Canada.

She will serve as the lone representative of CSU Lal-lo in the exchange program, which aims to promote academic and cultural exchange between Canada and ASEAN countries while providing opportunities for students to strengthen their leadership skills, enhance academic knowledge, and gain global perspectives through multicultural learning experiences.

Sharing her reaction upon receiving the news, Viernes described the moment as both emotional and unforgettable, saying that she sees the opportunity as a chance for growth.
“To be honest, it feels surreal, but I do believe na this opportunity will help me not only academically but also in terms of personal growth. For sure, magma-mature pa ang isip ko roon as I’ll probably navigate my way through mostly by myself,” she said.

She also expressed excitement for the experiences and insights awaiting her abroad.

“I really look forward na marami akong matutuhan... sa kultura at pamumuhay roon, pati na rin sa mga taong makasasalamuha ko,” she added.

According to Dr. Baby Lyn A. Lumabas, campus internationalization and partnership coordinator, the international exchange marks another milestone in CSU Lal-lo’s continuing efforts to provide students with opportunities for global learning and cross-cultural engagement.
