Fragrant grass project emerges 2nd best paper in univ in-house review

The first phase of Cagayan State University at Lal-lo’s Fragrant Grass and Essential Oil Industry Development Program in Cagayan Valley emerged as the second best paper in the just concluded university in-house review today, October 04, 2022, held at CSU Andrews campus.

Presented by Asso. Prof. Nenette T. Columna, campus research coordinator, the paper bested other completed studies presented in the uni-wide research presentation.

Study highlights of the project include the Integrated Nutrient Management of Cymbopogon Species, Oil Production and Quality of Different Cymbopogon Species, and Cultural Management Technologies of the Fragrant Grasses.

Aimed at managing technologies that can innovate the production of Cymbopogon grasses especially Citronella and Lemon grasses, the project is part of the Php1.15 million worth program geared towards the development of the essential oil industry in the region funded by the Department of Science and Technology.

With Associate Professor Columna in the program are Asso. Prof. Lauro Julian, Ms. Zarina Kate C. Laggui, Ms. Roje Marie Clemente.
Aside from the winning paper, the program CAFÉ Valena through STRIDE was also presented by College of Agriculture Dean Asst. Prof. Maribel L. Fernandez while two ongoing researches that are focused on production and management of technologies of banana in Region 2 were presented by Mr. Lyle Gavien Alcomendras, and Mrs. Diosa Alasaas.
