As a direct institution receiving technical services from Cagayan State University at Lal-lo, Sta. Maria Central School adopted the technology on the use of Lemon grass and Citronella hydrosol as a disinfectant on September 29, 2022.

According to Asso. Prof. Nenette T. Columna, campus research coordinator, the adoption of the technology is a result of the partnership inked between the two institutions in pushing for the establishment of essential industry in the region.

Hydrosol is a by-product of fragrant grass oil extraction as part the Fragrant Grass and Essential Oil Industry Development Program in Cagayan Valley with CSU Lal-lo as the implementing agency.
