Research office trains Lal-lo RIC members on standardized procedures in citronella production, cultural management

Cagayan State University at Lal-lo Research office convened the officers and members of the Rural Improvement Club of Lal-lo at the Campus Outreach Center on September 9, 2022, to disseminate research outputs of the Php1.15 million-worth fragrant grass research project.

With the leadership of Asso. Prof. Nenette T. Columna, the project leader and the campus research coordinator, the Campus Fragrant Grass Project team trained the RIC members to enhance their knowledge and skills on the standardized procedures in citronella production and cultural management.

According to Associate Professor Columna, the activity is a major undertaking in the million project that aims to manage technologies that can innovate the production of Cymbopogon grasses which will ultimately concretize the oil industry niche in Lal-lo through Science and Technology interventions.

The activity was personally attended by the incumbent RIC President and Lal-lo Vice Mayor, Hon. Maria Olivia B. Pascual.

It is noted that extraction and processing of citronella essential oils into various products has been an emerging enterprise in Lal-lo through the initiative of the RIC in the municipality
