Faculty members of Cagayan State University (CSU) at Lal-lo underwent a whole-day training on module writing for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-aligned education on August 29 to strengthen the campus' instructional material development and production.

With the theme “Advancing Instructional Excellence through Collaborative Module Development,” the seminar brought together resource speakers and faculty members from the four colleges who shared expertise on effective instructional designing and learning outcomes writing.

Dr. Marcelo R. Raquepo, a book author and campus consultant, delivered a lecture on "Effective Instructional Design: Aligning Learning Theories, Objectives, and Assessment for Optimal Student Success".

He emphasized the importance of outcomes-based education, constructive alignment of module outcomes, teaching and learning activities, and assessment tasks.

Complementing Dr. Raquepo's lecture, Mr. Jesus Leonardo, Instructional Material Development Coordinator, discussed "Crafting Clear and Measurable Outcomes: A Guide to Effective Instructional Materials", highlighting the need for clarity and measurability in learning objectives.

According to Dr. Baby Lyn A. Lumabas, campus Instructional Material Development (IMD) coordinator, the training was conceived in partnership with University Mahasarawaswati (UNMAS) Denpasar earlier in July to facilitate the participation of a faculty evaluator from UNMAS.

Dr. Lumabas shared that Prof. Ketut Sumantra of UNMAS, an agriculture faculty, shall serve as an evaluator for the modules produced by the College of Agriculture.

"Due to some schedule mismatch, our international evaluator cannot join us physically, but will still serve as one of our evaluators for the College of Agriculture modules," she explained.

Despite the mismatch of schedule, Dr. Lumabas assured that the campus is working with UNMAS in producing SDG-aligned modules as part of its internationalization efforts.

The training was spearheaded by the Office of the Campus IMD coordinator and Campus Academic Coordinator, in support of CSU’s continuing commitment to instructional excellence and sustainable education.
