Flood-hit residents of island barangay in Lal-lo receive relief packs from CSU Lal-lo

LAL-LO, Cagayan—Residents of Barangay San Antonio, a flood-prone island barangay in Lal-lo, received much-needed assistance on November 28 after severe flooding brought by consecutive typhoons.

A total of 211 households were provided with drinking water and pre-loved clothes in a relief effort led by Cagayan State University (CSU) at Lal-lo.

The initiative was organized by the CSU Lal-lo Faculty Association and the Administrative Personnel Association, with active participation from faculty members, staff, students, and benefactors.

In his message during the relief pack distribution, Campus Executive Officer (CEO) Engr. Policarpio L. Mabborang highlights the sincere initiative of the campus to help in any means possible especially during calamities especially after typhoons.

“We are here now because we want to show that CSU Lal-lo stands with you, especially during times of calamity. Helping in any way we can is a sincere initiative of the campus and CSU as a whole,” the CEO said in vernacular.

Barangay San Antonio is one of the most affected areas in Lal-lo, frequently inundated by floodwaters from the Cagayan River during typhoons and torrential rains.
Since late of September, Lal-lo and the whole province of Cagayan has endured six consecutive typhoons, two of which were categorized as super typhoons, causing both structural damages in the locality and flooding within the riverbank of the longest river in the country.

Hon. Jenifer C. Verbo, barangay captain, expressed his gratitude to the group for considering the said barangay in the relief effort.

“Agyaman kami la unay ta daytoy barangay mi ti napili yu nga tulungan kadaytoy nga relief effort yu. Appreciarin mi unay daytoy nga tulong“, the barangay said.

The relief operation team was led by led by CEO Mabborang, along other campus officials, and student leaders.
