A total of 2,181 students of Cagayan State University (CSU) Lal-lo, the highest enrollment of the campus so far this decade, were welcomed at the F.S. Zamora Hall on August 19 as the university launched Salubong 2024, a synchronized university-wide welcome program marking the beginning of the new academic year.

Kicking off the program, the students marched from the campus gate to the gymnasium in the first-ever grand Pelican walk organized by the Campus Student Council.

Data from the Office of the Campus Registrar reveals that the campus inked a history in its enrollment as it registered this year the highest headcount since the start of this decade.

The College of Hospitality Management enrolled the highest with 868 students, while the College of Information and Computing Sciences followed with 490 students.

Meanwhile, the College of Teacher Education and the College of Agriculture welcomed 441, and 382 students, respectively.
Following the ceremonial walk, students gathered at the gymnasium for a Eucharistic Mass led by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Maggay, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

The formal program continued with presentations from students of various colleges and the introduction of campus officials, faculty, administrative personnel, and support staff.

In his message, Engr. Policarpio L. Mabborang, Campus Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of meaningful steps in the students' academic journey.

“Kanina, nagkaroon tayo ng unity walk. May kasabihan na sa ating paglalakbay, ito ay kailangan ng bawat hakbang. [Ito] ay isang makabuluhan sa bawat isa,” CEO Mabborang said.

He also echoed Father Maggay’s sentiment that great distances can be reached with the fare, which can be found right at the campus.

“Nabanggit ni Father Maggay kanina na malayo ang inyong mararating basta may pamasahe ka at yung pamasahe na ‘yon ay nandito lang sa CSU Lal-lo Campus,” he stated.

Led by the officers of various organizations, the first-year students were given a campus tour in the afternoon to familiarize themselves with the facilities, buildings, areas, and offices.

The welcome program was spearheaded by the Guidance Office in collaboration with the CSC. #
