Demonstrating commitment to get sealed with international standards for total quality management systems (QMS), Cagayan State University (CSU) at Lal-lo subjected its operations to an external audit for ISO 9001:2015 certification this October 16-17.

During the two-day visit, Engr. Justo R. Batoon Jr., associate auditor of Certification International Philippines, examined critical areas in the operations of the campus, including strategic directions, administrative processes, and customer satisfaction.

Engr. Batoon audited both core, and administrative and support offices to ensure alignment with ISO 9001:2015 standards which outline the criteria for a quality management system that helps organizations ensure meeting customer needs and continuously enhancing processes.

Representing the core offices, the College of Teacher Education and the College of Hospitality Management were audited in terms of their quality objectives, performance evaluation mechanisms, and operational procedures.

On the first day of the visit, Engr. Batoon looked into how said core offices set and achieved their quality objectives, and how performance tracking systems were put in place to evaluate the progress and efficiency of the office operations, particularly of educational services.

The evaluation extended to the operational workflows of the core offices especially on the effectiveness of the processes in contributing to the university’s strategic objectives, highlighting the dire need for educational institutions to establish systems that allow continuous improvement in terms of operations.

Aside from the two colleges, the Office of the Campus Executive Officer was also examined for the broader organizational context and framework of CSU Lal-lo as a working unit and campus of the university, especially on clauses along addressing needs and expectations of interested parties as well approaching risks and opportunities.

As part of the evaluation, the auditor reviewed the campus’ approach to customer satisfaction, a key criterion in the certification process to ensure that feedback from students, faculty, and other stakeholders is used to improve educational and administrative services.

The two-day audit is part of the university-wide audit on October 14 to 18, with the aim to make all campuses ISO certified.
